Pearl Jam Guitarist Auctions Gibson Flying V for Charity

One of the 40 something's favorite rock bands of the 90s has made headlines - Pearl Jam, the Seattle scene band who vied against Nirvana for the top grunge rock band in America. I have to admit I was one of those teenagers that thought Eddie Vedder, the lead singer was cuter than Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. Cuteness aside Pearl Jam always carried a sense of social responsibility in their lyrics which appealed to a wider commercial base.

In any case, yesterday while perusing gluten free and related disease headlines, I ran across the article about Mark Cready, lead guitarist for Pearl Jam, has pledged to auction off an autographed Gibson Flying V guitar and a re-issue of the album VS. and will donate the proceeds to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). as reported by Gibson.com

If you didn't know it, a Flying V guitar is like a dream to a teenager that liked Stadium Rock music, not to mention if it was autographed, by Pearl Jam! And I am sure most people who play guitar would love one also.

So, we salute and thank Pearl Jam and Mark Cready immensely for giving well deserved attention and funds to a Foundation which helps so many who suffer daily.
